On the occasion of our 70th anniversary, we would like to give you a special insight into the history and development of our company. We look back proudly on seven decades in which we have grown from a small regional business to a global player with group affiliation.
Over the years, we have continuously developed and expanded our product portfolio: from a manufacturer of fittings to a specialist in accessible care solutions.

Accessibility directly from the Black Forest
At our company headquarters in Renchen, we produce a wide range of high-quality products with an in-house production depth of 80%. From hinged support rails to grab rails and angled rails, shower handrails and sanitary accessories, we develop and produce accessible and inclusive system solutions. We focus on technical excellence in all areas of production. With a total area of 28,000 m2, our site in Renchen includes office, logistics and production areas that meet the latest standards.
Our developers work passionately on products that are as functional as they are aesthetic. Numerous design awards confirm that we are on the right track. We offer suitable series for every living environment – for use at home, in clinics and nursing homes, in age-appropriate residential complexes, in hotels, restaurants and public areas.

For us, the ‘Made in Germany’ label not only stands for the highest quality, but also for responsible and sustainable production. Our employees in Renchen combine traditional know-how and a high level of expertise with the latest technology to offer you products that meet the highest standards in both functionality and design.
Our manufacturing facility is organised into three specialised areas for the production and assembly of nylon, stainless steel and aluminium products.
All processes undergo strict quality management in accordance with ISO 9001, which ensures consistently high quality and reliability.

§4 Law on the equality
of people with disabilities
Barrier-free access is provided by buildings and other facilities, means of transport, technical equipment, information processing systems, acoustic and visual information sources and communication facilities, as well as other designed areas of life, if they are accessible, usable and findable by people with disabilities in the usual way, without particular difficulty and, in principle, without outside help. The use of disability-related aids is permitted.
The three principles
of inclusion
Disabled people are allowed to decide for themselves where they want to live or what profession they want to learn.
They have the right to participate in social life.
Disabled people must be able to live like everyone else.

Usability
The two-senses principle states that a room must be recognisable to people with visual and hearing impairments through at least two of the senses of sight, hearing and touch in order for them to be able to find it. This is specified in DIN 18040.
Contrast levels, such as luminance contrast, help people with visual impairments to find their way around.
In our NORMBAU Verso Care Duo series, strong colour contrasts are used to highlight important areas so that they can also be easily recognised by people with visual impairments or dementia.
Movement areas must be designed in such a way that they offer optimal freedom of movement to people with and without disabilities. Important points are:
- Wide paths and aisles for wheelchair users and people pushing prams.
- Doors and passageways that are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- Easy-to-use door fittings.
- Thresholds and door stops no higher than 2 cm or not present.
A room is considered usable if it allows people with and without restrictions to use all functions such as sitting, standing, holding, grasping and supporting.
Products that break down barriers, such as hinged support rails, backrests and grab rails, enable people with disabilities to use the toilet area independently. A washbasin that can be accessed from a wheelchair is ideal for wheelchair users and also for people without disabilities.

We are celebrating the big NORMBAU summer party!
The foundation stone of our company was laid in 1954 – today, 70 years later, we are experts in the fields of accessibility and inclusion and produce Care Solutions products at the foot of the Black Forest. Our aim is to maintain the independence and safety of people with physical disabilities with our products. To celebrate 70 years of the company, NORMBAU held a big summer party this year.
Sunshine, summer temperatures, cool drinks, delicious street food, an exciting competition and a world of experiences on the subject of accessibility were just some of the highlights of this after-work summer party. Colleagues celebrated and strengthened the team spirit until late into the evening.
We would like to thank all NORMBAU employees for coming and for the great atmosphere that they helped to create throughout the evening.

The party was opened with a short speech by our managing director, Ms Lauer. It was an opportunity to thank all employees for their extraordinary commitment in the first half of the year, but above all to wish all those present a pleasant, enjoyable and relaxing summer party evening, which the entire NORMBAU team had earned.
NORMBAU quiz: the exciting competition
To test our employees' knowledge of NORMBAU, a small quiz with great prizes was organised. Ten questions about the 70-year history had to be answered correctly to win one of ten prizes. The picture shows the lucky winners.
Delicious street food for the (big) appetite
Burgers and chips – what more could you need? In collaboration with the ‘Burgerwerkstatt – Der Fuchs geht rum’ from Willstätt, all hungry employees were provided with various burger variations. Of course, there was also a delicious dessert to finish.
Don't forget to drink plenty at high temperatures!
Water, of course! But our NORMBAU apprentices have provided the one or other soft drink, (virgin) cocktails or a refreshing beer. Their ‘apprentice cocktail bar’ was open all evening and provided the NORMBAU team with the refreshments they needed.

3-Senses World of Experience
In order to also address the issue of accessibility during the summer party, the 3-Senses World of Experience was set up for the employees. How does it feel when one of our most important senses, such as sight, hearing or touch, is impaired? How can you help and which products can provide support? The NORMBAU team was able to find out at three different stations.
